.Pakistan has been invited to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in India on July 4. SCO Annual Summit Virtual Format In India, the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will be held on July 4.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a Eurasian political, economic and military cooperation organization established in Shanghai in 2001 by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
All of these countries were members of the Shanghai Five except Uzbekistan, which joined in 2001, when the organization was renamed the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. On July 10, 2015, India and Pakistan were also added to it.
Pakistan has been an observer country of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization since 2005, regularly participating in the meetings of the organization and in 2010, Pakistan applied for the membership of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The heads of the member states of the organization approved Pakistan’s request at the OFA meeting in July 2015 and agreed to work out a procedure for formal inclusion of Pakistan in the organization.
With the inclusion of Pakistan, the number of member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has increased to eight. Pakistan signed the ‘Memorandum of Obligations’ regarding the membership of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, after which Pakistan became a permanent member of the organization. –
On June 9, 2017, Pakistan and India got full membership of the organization
According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the SCO annual summit will be held in a virtual format
In which all member countries including China, Pakistan have been invited.
The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that Iran, Belarus and Mongolia have been invited as observers while Turkmenistan has been invited as a guest. According to the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the heads of the United Nations and ASEAN have also been invited to the meeting.
It should be noted that Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari participated in the SCO Foreign Ministers meeting held in India this month.
