Tangwani (Report: Pir bux Noonari) Tangwani The law and order situation in District Kashmore continues to deteriorate, with three people, including a woman, killed by armed men today. Due to fear and insecurity 15 families have also moved from area. District Kashmore has become a haven for criminals and a nightmare for law-abiding citizens.
Over the past two years, Kashmore has emerged as a stronghold for criminal activities, including kidnappings for ransom, human trafficking, and violent crimes. Hostages are routinely released in exchange for exorbitant amounts of money. Shockingly, human trafficking, reminiscent of ancient slave trade practices, has reemerged in a modern form, thriving in this district.
Despite the deployment of Rangers and equipping law enforcement agencies with modern technology, no significant breakthroughs have been achieved. Drones, intended for surveillance, are being used solely for recording videos, while ground operations yield minimal results. This glaring inefficiency highlights the failure of the Sindh government and security forces to control the spiraling crime rate.
Perhaps the most troubling aspect of this crisis is the silence of human rights organizations. Kashmore is the only district in the country where human beings are treated as commodities, yet there has been little to no action from advocacy groups or civil society to address the issue.
The ongoing lawlessness in Kashmore raises critical questions about the competence of the Sindh government and law enforcement agencies.
Why have crimes persisted despite the presence of police and Rangers? Is this due to negligence, corruption, or lack of political will?
The residents of Kashmore demand immediate and effective measures to restore peace and security in the district. Without swift and decisive action, this crisis could escalate into a national issue, threatening the safety and stability of the entire region. It is imperative for the government to step up, address its shortcomings, and protect the fundamental rights of its citizens.
