Lahore, June 19: – Lahore Press Club and National Press Club Islamabad have praised the initiative of the caretaker Punjab government to allocate one billion rupees for the endowment fund for the journalists of Punjab and said that establishment of Journalist Endowment Fund will greatly help in solving the financial problems of journalists across the province in a better way. President of Lahore Press Club Mohammad Azam Chaudhry, Senior Vice President Shadab Riaz, Vice President Zaheer Ahmad Babar, Secretary Abdul Majeed Sajid, Joint Secretary Hasan Taimur Jakkhar, Finance Secretary Hafiz Faiz Ahmed and members of the governing body appreciated this initiative of the government. Both press clubs specially thanked Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Information Minister Amir Mir and said that Lahore Press Club has always been demanding from all past governments to solve the problems faced by journalists, but the current caretaker government has shown special interest in this issue. By fulfilling the long-standing demand of journalists, caretaker Punjab government has won the hearts of journalists. He said that Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Caretaker Information Minister Amir Mir have paid special attention to the welfare of journalists and it is hoped that the present government will continue to play its full role in solving the problems faced by journalists. President National Press Club Islamabad Anwar Raza, Secretary Khalil Raja, Finance Secretary Nayyar Ali and other officials welcomed the establishment of a one billion rupees endowment fund for journalists and media workers by the Punjab government, calling it a revolutionary step for press freedom. In his message, he praised the spirit of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Information Minister Amir Mir and said that the establishment of this fund by the Punjab government is a very good and commendable initiative because it will help the poor and deserving journalists and media workers financially. He said that this initiative was the need of the hour which was felt by the Chief Minister and the Information Minister Punjab. He said that for the first time in the country’s history, a government has felt the pain of journalists. President National Press Club and other officials thanked the Chief Minister and Information Minister Punjab on behalf of the media workers across the country.
